(More customer reviews)First off let me start by saying the VMP71 DOES play MKV files. Based off my own personal experience it plays them very well to. It also DOES Blu-ray ISO and so many more. The one thing I need to mention that I found to be very convenient was that ability to install your own 3.5" SATA HDD. Not only are they cheaper in terms of $$, but they usually last longer then external hard drives. As for the actual media player I did have a problem getting my computer to recognize it to upload videos, music, pictures, etc onto the internal hard drive. Viewsonic did solve the issue on how to fix it and after I was enjoying the hell out of it. The VMP71 is new so it does have its somewhat issues but with future firmwares (And there will be some because this item just released in August) I have no doubt that this media player will only get better. Amazon listed the item for $83.99 which is a steal. So if your planning on picking one up I highly recommend it. I also purchased a 1TB 3.5" SATA HDD for $60, and they already include the HDMI cable so you don't really need to worry about that. Overall you will be saving more money and I researched on media players for months; literally, and I have to say this does what most media players do if not more. Yes it doesn't have WiFi or YouTube, but it does have weather and Flickr. It also doesn't have the torrent download application like the others but isn't that what your computers for? I purchased an HD media player for the sole purpose of playing media files. And for that it doesn't disappoint what so ever. Viewsonics finally getting it right, and I know it's only going to get better from here.
