(More customer reviews)These are now my 5th pair of bluetooth wireless headphones and I think I've finally found one that does just what I want: great sounding streaming music from my iPod and simultaneously make or take calls from my Blackberry.
In my typical fashion, let's begin with the good, move on to the bad and then finish with those things that need improvement.
GOOD
Excellent sound quality - Clear, clean and LOUD. What more can I say about it. This may seem obvious but apparently some people don't understand the many different profiles available with Bluetooth devices and which ones are necessary to get good sound quality from these headphones. In order to hear quality audio, your Bluetooth source must support the Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP). Many of the USB dongle devices and quite a few built-in Bluetooth laptops (including MacBooks) and phones DON'T support this profile. How will know? First check the documentation to see if A2DP is listed as a supported profile. If not, try pairing with the headphones. If you hear tinny sounding music in mono, your device probably only supports the Headset and Handsfree (HPF) profiles. You'll need to find some other hardware or maybe a software upgrade.
Convenient - My S805s are paired with my iPod equipped with Wi-Gear's iMuffs MA110 Dock Adapter. This adapter is powered by the iPod and supports both the A2DP and Audio Video Remote Control (AVRCP) profiles allowing the headphone to control the volume, play/pause and next/prev track of the iPod while getting the great sound you expect. With no wires to get tangled or swing around when you move, these are great for workouts on the treadmill or elliptical.
Battery Life - Motorola claims that these fully charged headphones will operate in standby mode for up 30 days! I haven't had an opportunity to test this out and I not quite sure exactly what is "standby" mode, but I do know that the music play time is good for about a week of bus rides and occasional office use--about 15 hours. Not bad for the volume and quality.
Nice carrying case - the S805 comes with a durable semi-rigid zippered ballistic nylon case that holds the headphones with the earpieces folded flat at 2 inches thick. There's even a strap inside to conveniently hold the charger and the wired adapter cable.
Elegant Design - The headphones are very nice to look at once you get past the bulk (more on that next). They are symmetrically designed with a single button on each earpiece. One side controls the phone the other the music. The volume and track skip controls are ingeniously integrated into the rubber trim rings of each earpiece. Twist the left one forward or backward to change the volume or the right one to skip or repeat tracks.
BAD
Bulky - While the over-the-ear design is really effective at blocking outside noise, they are also very large and rather obvious. Especially with the blinking blue lights on the side. This attracts a lot of strange looks since you resemble a Borg. BTW, the blue lights can be turn off but I often forget since they default to "ON" after your recharge.
Cheap plastic parts - These definitely aren't your Bose QuietComforts. Most of the plastic pieces feel very cheap and appear as if they would easily break if dropped. The little rubber flap covering the charging and wired adapter ports is very flimsy and I don't expect it to last very long. The volume adjustment control dial and the track control dial have a lot of slop and wiggle room. I'd have to say that the case is better made than the headphones.
Short Wired Adapter - The wired adapter cord is very short. Less than a meter long so you need to be very close to your wired device.
NEEDS IMPROVEMENT
Scratchy Fabric on Headband - The fabric inside of the headband is same acoustic fabric as the inside of the earpieces. I often take these off and dangle them around my neck but the fabric is kind of irritating. A smooth fabric would be much more comfortable.
Earpiece Cushions - The soft vinyl earpieces aren't too uncomfortable, but the do make the area around my ears all sweaty, especially during a workout. They're also kind of tight so they don't slip off your head but the pressure begin to get uncomfortable after a while. But if don't like the headphones with eartips that go into your ears, these are minor issues.
Complicated Controls - Although two buttons make for elegant design, it also makes for a confusing array of functions that you must remember to control them. Press and hold for 6 seconds for pairing mode. Press and hold for 2 seconds to turn them off. Press, hold and wait for three blinks to turn off. Short press to answer a call, long press to reject a call or answer a call waiting or redial the last call (all depending on the current state). Yikes! That's a lot to remember.
Minimal Instructions - The instruction booklet is a double-sided sheet of paper with a minimal amount of information to get you started. There are two paragraphs of troubleshooting along with a support number and web URL. If you can't get these to work as expected, don't expect to get much help.

Sena Motorcycle Dual Bluetooth Headset and Intercom System Review

(More customer reviews)I've never owned or used an intercom on a motorcycle before now, so I have nothing to compare this with.
The unit out of the box paired easily with the second unit, my Ipod touch, and one of our two cellphones. I can not get it to pair with my Samsung PDA (which I've successfully paired with other bluetooth devices.) Unit to unit works perfectly. It also works perfectly with my older Motorola razor cellphone. It connects, and allows music playback from my Ipod touch (3g). I cannot control the Ipod with the headset though. But perhaps the Ipod bluetooth doesn't support that (?) The problem with the Ipod is that if you talk too long to your passenger over the intercom, the Ipod will pause, and you can't restart it from the headset. It's too tricky to try and restart while I'm driving, so when that happens, I have to wait until my next stop or pull over. A work around on this is to use the supplied cables and plug the Ipod into the headset. But then, you're messing with cables, and it defeats the whole Bluetooth advantage. I have read reviews on other sites that claim the Sena unit sends a command to pause the Ipod. If that's accurate, then the problem is with the Sena unit, not Apple. However, if you just speak briefly to your passenger, the music comes back on as soon as you click off with the passenger. Also, music over bluetooth will only work with one or the other headset. Your MP3 can't drive both headsets via bluetooth. I mention this, because a lot of folks don't realize this.
Operation is simple, you can leave it on VOX, which will make you and the other rider connect when you speak. Or you can deactivate VOX, and press the side button to connect, then press again when you're done.
We use these with our half helmets. I wear hearing aids, and half helmets are the only helmet I can use my hearing aids with. I sometimes ride with only 1 hearing aid. Either way, with one or both hearing aid in, there is ample volume below about 65 mph to hear fine. Over about 65 mph, the microphone picks up too much wind noise to work well. Couple that with the wind rushing in to a half helmet, and it's only that much harder to hear. Before you buy this for half helmets, read some reviews of other types of intercoms. Some have a mic that touches your throat. Perhaps that would be better in a half helmet, but I really don't know. Anyway, I don't fault Sena for the wind issues in a half helmet. Although it would be sporting of them to mention it in their ad.
Battery life seems pretty good. We set out with two fully charged headsets today. We rode 5 hours with the intercom ON the whole time, with no issues. Recharge time later wasn't long, Less than an hour. Clicking it on and off should extend the battery life.
Bottom line. Except for the Ipod issue, it operates flawlessly. It's not the hot ticket for half helmets though, at least when riding out on the interstate.

1. Works in a nearby room or directly above/below the room with the transmitter.
2. Able to hear outside sounds, if you don't want to be completely isolated from your surroundings.
3. Nice to be able to adjust the volume by touching the shell of the right earpad, which acts as a toggle switch.
4. Comes with a short cord in case the dongle won't fit in your unit's audio jack.
CONS:
1. Sound quality is muddy. If you like rock music, you will not hear much of the cymbals or other high notes. It is fine if you listen to spoken voice. The stock earbuds with the Nano 2G are a little better than the Logitech, but with less bass. My Sony MDR-V6 closed-ear cans sound *exceptionally* good with my 2nd Gen Nano. I'll give the Logitech headphones many additional hours to break in, but I had hoped they would sound much better out of the box.
2. Headband is not adjustable and sits close to your neck. Tilting your head back, even slightly, bumps the headband. Wearing a collared shirt also causes your shirt to contact the headband. The around-the-ear part of the headband takes most of the impact. The earpads will move a little. Some collar brushing comes through to the earpads. I think exercising would not go well.
3. Comfortable on the ears for less than an hour.
4. Little if any difference in bass boost and normal.
5. Comes with 6 iPod interfaces, but the Nano interface does not work with the 2nd Gen Nano. You can still plug the dongle into the headphone jack, but without the end cap for the dongle, there is a 2mm gap.
6. It's just more than twice the width of the Nano 2G. It is also slightly offset, left-to-right when looking at the Nano + dongle from the front.
7. I generally had to try to set the connection twice before it sync'd up. Then I needed to start the player right away, because if I waited 30 seconds, it shut itself off.

(More customer reviews)The vox340 is a Bluetooth stereo headset with mic that also includes a separate blue tooth transmitter adapter with a 3.5mm plug that plugs into any headphone jack.
It works great as Bluetooth stereo headphones and beats all the FM and 900MHz headphones I have tried over the years. The range is about 25ft when going through the walls where I live. Since stereo operation only requires pairing with the included adapter, makes it possible to listen wirelessly to anything with a stereo jack. I have it plugged into my laptop.
When paired with a cellphone, the vox340 solves the problem of being able to listen to stereo without wires and still be able to switch to talking on the phone without changing to another headset (or removing the stereo headphones/ear buds to put a phone to your ear).
The device has a loop that is worn around the neck and the 2 inch pendant has volume control, on/off, and 2 other buttons that have tape deck like forward/rewind markings. Each ear bud branches off the loop a short distance to reach the ears. It comes with a charger; the batteries are not removeable.
I have only been able to get it to work with the adapter as Bluetooth stereo headphones since pairing is tricky with my cellphone and laptop, but I have not given up making it work with a MacBook Pro.
The manuals included were minimal and only in French and Spanish, no English. I had to get translation help to know what the various blinking LED modes mean and how to do Bluetooth pairing.
After searching and translation help, I found out:
* Bluetooth 1.2 device.
* Alternating red-green LED in the adapter means it is in pairing mode.
* Pairing mode is triggered by pressing On and Off buttons simultaneously and holding until it starts to blink.
* When the battery is totally drained, it needs to be paired again.
* Device can act either like stereo headphones or a hands free headset.
An insert into the package lists many cell phones that are compatible. To keep this review succinct, I will try to post more "missing vox340 manual" details elsewhere so others can benefit.

(More customer reviews)I use this with my phone -- Sony Ericsson w850i. Now whem i use the stereo buds that comes in the package -- sound quality is pretty good. I also tried it with Sony MDR-EX81LP Bud-Style Stereo Earphones -- and it sounded even better.
However this bluetooth baby is a different storey altogether. Sound quality is noticably (U'll have to be deaf no to notice!) lower. There is no BASS (forget Mega Bass). Further you notice that the range is distinctly lesser.
If you listen to more that 2-3 hours of music the battery will die on you, And it ain't fun carrying arround the charger. If you use this while jogging, well connectivity will go on and off quite often.
Also the functions like controling volume, fwding tracks will not synchronice between the devices too well.
However it is quite attractive accessory to wear. Operations are simple.
So if you want a simple wireless device to answer calls, and may be listen to music once in a blue moon, you may like this. However if you'r a serious music lover -- STAY AWAY FROM THIS!

(More customer reviews)Bottom line: meet my expectations for a wireless set of headphones. I would buy again. I did several hours of research before purchasing these.
My applications: listening to mp3s while working out using my Palm Tx (direct connection, i.e. without streaming device) and watching TV on my computer using BeyondTV (using streaming device which plugs into the audio-out mini jack to mediate the Bluetooth connection)
Pros:
- compact, light, stylish/sleek
- impressive audio quality for wireless device; probably as good as iPod ear buds, but by no means competition for high fidelity headphones
- once audio begins streaming, no flashing lights (like Motorola bluetooth headphones)
- no noticable audio lag (due to on the fly compression) when watching video. Yes it does exist, but you have to be trying to detect it. Only purists would probably take issue.
Cons:
- more of the Bluetooth technology then this product, but headset seems susceptible to obstructions (walls, thick clothes even)
- easy to use, but again, more of the technology of Blutooth then product, depending on what you are connecting headset to (streamer vs phone or Palm) can be a bit of a pain pairing when first learning to use. However learning curve is extremely short

I am only dissatisfied in the felt screen between the head phone and my ear. these covers are attached to the unit very loosely and often fall off if you are just carrying the head phones folded in your hand. I so now i have lost one. I have emailed Pyle about a replacement and they have yet to contact me back.

EGO TALK Bluetooth Handsfree Car Kit Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased a Ego Talk Bluetooth Handsfree Car Kit from Amazon and then found an adapter on another online site for my 2007 F-150 Lariat. WOW! That one word says it all. It took me all of about 30 minutes to install in the parking lot of a shopping mall where I went in and bought a really cheap pair of pliers simply because I couldn't wait to get home to install it. Sounds awesome, connects painlessly. Really can't tell the sound quality difference from one of the newer built in Ford Sync Systems and the unit is very small and unobtrusive. As I said above I purchased a special wire adapter which meant that it was absolutely plug & play with no wiring to solder, cut etc. Just unplugged the old radio and plugged this in. I'm warning you though it will scare the crud out of you the first time you're driving down the road with the radio off and this thing starts talking to you telling you whatever reminders your PDA is reminding you of, or what Important Emails just came in!

(More customer reviews)Disclaimer: It is winter here so I have only installed these in the helmets and tried the functionality. All testing was carried out at the maximum speed of my recliner.
The headset and microphone easily installed into my HJC full face helmet. The microphone is connected to a wire mike so it would also work with an open face helmet. The transmitter was smaller than I had expected and easily clipped onto the side of the helmet.
To turn the Interphone on or off you have to press the intercom button for about 10 seconds. It doesn't sound like a long time till you are holding in on the button for what seems like forever. There are two large buttons on the front and back of the transmitter. Both appear to be far enough apart and tall enough to easily operate with riding gloves on. The front "phone" button answers/hangs up the phone and on my phone would pause/resume music playback. The rear button enables/disables the intercom mode. There are two smaller buttons in the middle for volume control.
It took a few times reading through the procedure, but it was reasonably easy to bluetooth pair the Interphone with my LG Optimus android phone. Once paired, music played on the phone either through Pandora or the music player streamed automatically to the stereo headset. Volume seems to be plenty loud and the sound was much better than I expected. The sound isn't as good as earbuds, but in my opinion it was very satisfactory. When the cell was called, the music stopped and ringing could be heard in the headset. Pressing the phone button immediately answers the call. If no button is pressed, the phone will eventually auto-answer. There does not appear to be any way to ignore an incoming call. Calls can be terminated by pressing the phone button. Once the phone call ends, the music began playing again.
The units came pre-paired to each other so I can't comment on how difficult this process is. Intercom mode is entered by pressing the rear intercom button. It takes about 5 seconds for the Interphone to connect to the second Interphone and start an intercom session. The intercom mode seems to be full duplex so both mics are open the entire time in the intercom mode. Pressing the intercom button on either Interphone ends the intercom mode and returns to the phone/music monitor. The 5 or so seconds it takes to establish connection to the other Interphone is going to prevent spontaneous quick chats between the riders, but it will be MUCH easier than trying to yell between bikes while going down the road or at a stop.
The unit is also supposed to be able to use a wired headphone jack input for a GPS or standard MP3 player. This function did not work at all for me. This input has the lowest priority and it is possible that my smart phone was locking up the headphone function even when music output was paused.
Battery life is supposed to be about 8 hours. I turned on both Interphones, set them to intercom mode and set one in front of the TV speaker so that it was constantly transmitting and the other Interphone was constantly driving the headset. I left them run for ~6 hours and both head sets were still working when I stopped the test.
I am sure that other products are more refined and offer VOX/PTT functionality and automatic switching to the intercom, but for only $80 for the pair this is a fantastic deal.
I will write an update once the weather lets me pull the bike back onto the road.

(More customer reviews)I recently ordered the Jupiter Jack and was excited to use it because I am on the road all the time. It definitely does what it says it does just not very well. I live in DC and on just about every dial we have a radio station which is not good for the jupiter jack trying to steal the frequency. Both station it has you use are close to very powerful stations here so even though you are not on the same frequency they still come through. I am not here to say I am dissapointed in the product I just wish it was a little stronger. I am sure it would probably work in a more rural area where there are not as many stations but for DC it is not the best choice.

(More customer reviews)I got these, at considerably greater expense than here I might add, from my cell phone vendor. Much has been said in other reviews so I will not repeat that here; instead I will focus on my experience with them using my Smartphone and Windows Vista to listen to music on them.
I patiently waited for them to charge (two hours) before trying them out. It was then a few minutes work to get it to talk to my Cingular 3125 Smartphone (press and hold the home button, Comm Manager, Settings, Bluetooth settings, Menu, Devices, Menu, New).
My phone will play music and uses the external screen to display the track etc. so that was the first thing I tried out - worked perfectly the first time I clicked play on a song on my phone: the sound just came out of the headphones, wirelessly! I was able to skip back and forwards, pause and play using the buttons on the right side of the headphones and adjust the volume using the left side.
The quality was not the best I've heard - not as good as my iPod for example, even though I had just ripped it from the CD at 256Kbit so I loaded the song onto my PC and tried listening to it there. I am running the final, released version of Windows Vista and was able to add the headphones as a Bluetooth device ok but then was unable to use them as Vista didn't have any drivers for them (even though it knew what it was). So I tried plugging them in via the USB cable that came with them and it found drivers for that ok and seemed prepared to work. However playing the file I had just played on my phone didn't result in sound coming out of the headphones...? A browse of the manual told me I needed to press and hold both the left and right side buttons after waiting 10 seconds after plugging them in. Once I did that, they changed colour from their red "charging and dead" colour to the "I'm doing something" blue. As soon as I did this all sound from my PC came through the headphones just fine!
They sounded much better when getting sound over the wire then they did wirelessly over Bluetooth so clearly the sound quality is degraded by the Bluetooth connection somehow. When listening wired, there is lots of bass and the treble was clear and overall I was surprised how good they sounded. Fairly loud but you won't go deaf with them.
To get a comparison, I plugged in my Sony MDR-V300 headphones, which are a very nice sounding pair of the regular wired kind that plug into the headphone socket, and listened to the same song again on my PC. The Jabra's are definitely not as good-sounding as the Sony's. I also noticed the song didn't sound as good as it does when I listen to it on my iPod using those headphones so the audio circuitry of my notebook is apparently not as good as the iPod which I don't think is very surprising.
They are light and comfortable and in summary, it is good being able to listen to music on your phone without the hassle of wires or of having to reach for a player to skip songs you don't like but the experience, in terms of music quality, is way short of that when using an iPod and high-end headphones.
