(More customer reviews)I would like to give this item 5 stars because the packaging was exquisite and carefully thought out, the item is well designed and very nice to look at, BUT, nowhere in the description that I can find does it say if you want to use this with an iPod Nano that you have to contact the manufacturer for the proper docking adaptor. And that it takes two to three weeks to receive it! This is a fifty cent piece of plastic folks. Oregon Scientific should supply their distributors with the piece and let them add it to the order instead of suprising the consumer like this. Come on! This was a gift and the excitement my daughter felt at receiving it was dampened considerably by her inability to use the thing.I give it four stars because the speaker seems to be well made and the instructions are thorough even though there is only a small tag discretely placed on the outside of the box that says you have to ask for the adaptor to make it work with the Nano. If that had been in the item description I could have requested it when I bought it and saved a week or so of waiting. As it is we have a rather expensive clock that we can't use as a speaker until Oregon Scientific fufills the adaptor request.
1/12/06. I would like to report that Oregon Scientific contacted me and we resolved all issues with this order. They were extremely helpful , gave a clear and concise explanation of the issue with the Nano adaptor and satisfied me completely. It is a pleasure to deal with a company that is so concerned with their customers. My complements to them and their customer service crew.
Now to the product. The system works flawlessly, there were no glitches or difficulty in setting it up and the sound is fabulous.It is the equal of my Bose Wave radio in my opinion. The smile on my daughter's face as she carried the ball around listening to her stored music was worth the wait. I can recommend this product with no reservations. I am upgrading my rating to 5 stars and ordering a catalog from Oregon Scientific today.

(More customer reviews)I was skeptical about the promise of the RoomGroove when I first read the specs. I knew that the sound would be good to great as they are Klipsch. But internetworking all of them together? Seamlessly? Sure.
I have now bought 3 RoomGrooves from Amazon - where I found the price to be the lowest. The units are amazing. The sound is top notch for an all-in-one unit. The best surprise was the interconnection of the devices. It was seamless. I can now play the same music throughout my home or play different music in each room. And have the volume set perfectly for each room. I have one attached to my PC so that it can access my iTunes library. It was a no-brainer to set up. It looks great. It sounds great. For $700 total, I was able to have wireless music throughout my property.
I did suggest to Klipsch that they develop a standalone device (without a speaker system) that could be hooked into a PC for iTunes access. One that would broadcast over Klipsch cast.

(More customer reviews)The current price of 131 is a very good deal. I paid full price for this unit.
Since this does not have a clock or radio, my main purpose of buying this was to get a decent sound on an ipod player. Also, it had to work with 2G Ipod Touch or 3G phone (both charge and play--many unit will play but not charge these new Ipod models).
The choices are few. Some JBLs and Bose (System II), and Polk Audio. I do not know if the more expensive hifi brands work with 2G Touch; I just didn't want to spend 500-600 dollars for an ipod station.
This unit has much more power than the JBLs I tested. The Klipsh units (like IGroove) will not charge IPod touch 2G, although they have excellent sound.
So it came down to Bose SDII vs this unit, which is now less than half the price of the Bose SDII. They are both very good, but this AL unit can get louder with less distortion, and even at lower volumes separates sounds better. I tested both units, using multiple songs/music (classical solo and orchestra; rock; blues; jazz solos and band; folk; acapella like Take6, among others). I'm not sure what to say about people who say the sound is muddled--well, for some recordings this is true, but a modern folk acoustic album, for example, comes out very crisp and alive, or a violin solo, the sound couldn't be more alive. I think I did a fair comparison of these units, and believe the AL unit may be better, and certainly a much better value. The bass/treble control is also quite excellent.

Just got it from Amazon. The built of the product is very sturdy, the cables are probably the best out there with gold plating. I have a iPhone 3GS with a case and it fits nicely with the case. There is a grove rubber backing to give the phone/pod a little support. The USB Cable can SYNC and CHARGE at the same time. The Audio/Video cabels are nicely built with gold plating. I have yet to try them with the entertainment center. The Audio/Video out can be used with both the A/V cabels provided as well as regular stereo headphone. Since the A/V out is meant for a AV cable with three points, you can still use a stereo headphone by inserting it properly so that just the audio points make the connection. Not a hard thing to do at all and the jack is not flimsy that you have to keep on adjusting. Since the dock is meant for connection with an entertainment center, the volume control is not available and the volume controls on the iPhone/iPod don't control it either. Also the Volume Controls on the iPhone/iPod music app or any other music streaming app just disappear as soon as you dock. Th volume out is not very high or very low.. Perfect for a work desk listening if you are listening via headphones. If you have a set of portable speakers, you can control the volume through the speakers. Also the headphone jack on the iPhone is still available for those who want to control the volume. I will try out the A/V cable features tonight and report them too. All in all a good buy if you are looking for a stylish dock which will let you charge, sync with or without case and gives you options for both Audio and Video out all using one dock. (More customer reviews)Most of the features of this unit are thoughtful and work well. When the face is closed, you have access to all the unit controls. Additionally, the front face swings open to present an iPod dock and a second set of controls that handle most of the unit's functions. The iPod dock is nice and sturdy; my iPod Classic fits in it better than it does inside a Bose Sounddock. It has an aux input and programmable subwoofer/rear output, as well as a spare preamp output.
The EQ settings are not as detailed as I would like, but they aren't bad. There's bass and treble settings, no mid. There is also no built-in crossover, which I would prefer to see in any head unit with a dedicated subwoofer out, but again, for the price, this is to be expected.
The big fault, however, is in the programming.
One of the nice touches on this device is that you can set the EQ separately for each input - radio, aux, iPod, or bluetooth. However, unless an iPod is set in the dock, the iPod mode does not appear in the audio settings menu, so you can't adjust the EQ for it that way. And the kicker? When an iPod IS docked, there is no way to access the audio settings menu; the only button for that is on the front panel, which does not function when the faceplate is open to allow an iPod to dock. Effectively, it is impossible to adjust the EQ for the iPod, with the factory radio.
I've figured out one workaround; if you purchase a dock-extender cable, you can plug in an iPod, and then close the front panel. Alternatively, you can set your iPod into the dock, then plug the aux cable into it and basically use it in aux mode - you'll have the ability to change the EQ, and your iPod will stay charged, however you won't be able to use the remote to control the iPod.
EDIT Added 2/20/11: As many commenters have now pointed out, you can adjust the EQ using the remote control when the iPod is docked. Press the Audio Settings button on the remote to cycle through each EQ setting, and use the volume buttons to adjust that setting up and down. I still consider this a crappy solution to a problem that should have been caught in testing, but I also consider it way too minor for me to buy a different head unit. I still like this one quite a lot, more than a year after first installing it.

(More customer reviews)Nice little stereo with alarm clock that lets you wake up to your Ipod and more importantly the specific song. Some just shuffle this one doesn't. There's a glow from the clock but not so bright that it really illuminates the room so you can't sleep. My only problem is that it's hard to read the time and I don't know if it's the blue background (which most of them have lately), that if the time could be darker against that background and it would be easier to see or my bad vision. I don't recall having this difficulty with previous clocks that had red against black. All in all I'm pretty happy with it. The remote is a nice feature although I don't really use it.

(More customer reviews)I do not mean to be condescending in this review, but I seriously mean that this is a $30 speaker in a cabinet that can accept the various iPod types which takes up the other $30 of the price. There is nothing special about this speaker:
My Thoughts:
1) It is very one dimensional as far as the sound travels. There is only one forward speaker.
2) It is small but not small enough to put in a brief case.
3) The sound is not overwhelming nor is it underwhelming.
4) The bass is minimum
5) The treble is minimum
6) It sounds better with simple vocals than with full range orchestration
7) If you are an audiophile, skip this product.
Overall, I would rather spend more money for a better product. This seems to be a product looking for a niche and it doesn't find it.

iDeck Integrated Car Cassette Adapter for iPod (Certified "Made for iPod") Review

(More customer reviews)I spent some time looking at all the options for mounting and playing an iPhone through my car speakers, as well as charging the iPhone. Nothing seemed to fit the bill perfectly. There are only a few options out there for mounts that charge and play music through your speakers--all of which are mounted awkwardly, directly to the cigarette lighter and down out of a safe area view to view the iPhone while driving. They all look flimsy and a little cheap.
Finally, after some searching I found this gem. I've never seen an iPhone mount that is literally mounted to a cassette adapter. It's mounted right in the middle of your radio, which is excellent as the iPhone is taking the place of the radio in the first place! It takes up less space than any other iPhone/iPod mount on the market. It really cleans up the clutter that most mounts create. It's easy to view without taking your eyes to far off the road. Tape adapter sound quality surpasses FM transmitters by a long shot. Sound quality is about a 9/10 (FM transmitters are about a 4/10). Really easy to mount and easy to view. It is a little bit wobbly where the mounting piece attaches to the cassette if you physically try to move it (which was a little bit annoying), but I corrected that very easily with a little bit of double-sided tape where the mount connects to the cassette to take up some of that extra space that allowed it to wobble. It was an easy fix to a problem that wasn't that major to begin with.
I had a little problem when I received the iDeck. The mounting bracket (there are 4 different ones included) I needed for the iPhone was missing from the package. I emailed Cyanics customer support to see if I could get this piece. They got back to me in just a few minutes with the tracking information on the piece I needed, telling me it was on its way. Cyanics customer support is second to none. I've emailed them a few times now and they have never taken more than 10 minutes to respond (imagine if every company was like that!).
The iDeck absolutely works with the iPhone, although the only way to use it as a handsfree unit (where you can hear the caller through the car speakers) is to use an extremely simple workaround that I discovered. The iDeck will charge the iPhone and play all the music, sounds, etc. through your car's speakers without any workaround. Cyanics told me I would not be able to use it as a handsfree calling device, though, because when you answer a call it switches to speakerphone and doesn't play the call through the car's speakers. You can get around this by connecting a 3.5mm cable from the iPhone's headphone jack into the jack on the iDeck labeled "AUX". It works very well. The person on the other end said I sounded loud and clear to them. If you have your car's volume turned up really loud, the caller will hear themselves echoing, but this shouldn't happen at normal volumes.
In conclusion, I'm really happy with this product. I'm extremely picky when it comes to this kind of stuff. I consider this the best iPhone car mount on the market. It's a shame it isn't advertised as an iPhone mount, because it works great.

Found this on clearance at a local box store and for the price took a flyer that it would serve for picnics and other outdoor music uses. This little box is GREAT for the use I wanted it for! It is NOT a replacement for my two home theater systems sound systems. It DOES NOT have a permanent hearing loss creating bass presence. But, it DOES run anywhere off of "C" cell batteries. It DOES play almost any variety of CD media. It DOES have a decent FM and AM tuning engine, and even more interesting...although it is not indicated anywhere on the box or in the advertising....the thing allows for my new 160 Gig iPod Classic to be plugged right into the front of it (even nicer with the little docking adapter that comes with the iPod) and the Sony remote actually operates the Generation 6.5 iPod perfectly! Operates all the iPod wheel functions, skips songs, THE WORKS! If there has to be a negative, the plastic carrying handle seems a little lightweight, but time will tell how it stands up to use. Nice product!!
