If you want to use it to listen to loud music, you can probably drown out the sound of the beep, but since I listen to audiobooks, it was an unacceptable annoyance to me.

It's a good FM transmitter when it comes to sound. The quality of the music is excellent compared to a lot of FM transmitters on the market. It's pretty easy to use, you just match the FM station on the Flexpod to the station on your car radio. It does what you expect it to do.
Some improvements from the old Flexpod are:
-New hands-free call microphone
-Rubberized DC barrel for better grip in the outlet
-Surge protection
-Black silicon rubber grips with wider wings to fit more iPhones and iPods with cases
-Fully rotating head so you can view it in landscape or vertical
-Better FM chipset
It performs well just like the old one, but with the added features the product has deinfitely taken a step up.
Hands-free can be tricky sometimes. Call quality is REALLY GOOD when you have a good station with little interference, and when you have 4 or 5 bars. If conditions aren't very good, the call quality can have some static. With the old version, sometimes people would have a hard time hearing my voice(due to interfence or something i'm not sure why...), but now there is a mini built-in microphone that picks up voice so that problem seems to be fixed with this new version.
I have friends that have Belkin and Griffin brands, but the FM signal doesn't seem to be as good... I like mine, and I think they paid something like $70.00 from costco for theirs.

When I pressed the autoscan button, it would scan to stations that were already in use, or partially in use. It rarely scanned to empty stations. I used to have a Kensington digital FM transmitter, and when I tuned to my go-to station, it would work no problem, no static at all. When I tried that same station with the Belkin, I heard static non-stop, along with my music. The only time I heard no static was when I went through a tunnel (obviously, since there's no radio station to interfere). I'm going back to my Kensington - very disappointed with this Belkin model. Note: I live in Fairfield County, and used this on the way to NYC. Maybe it would work better in other areas, but around here, it was terrible.

(More customer reviews)Overall, two thumbs up. I typically don't write product reviews, but I looked around and tried a number of methods and devices to do what I describe in the following, and after much time and mistrials, the only product I found that does it all is the GoGroove FlexSmart.
I wanted the product to do three things: (a) First, I wanted a car charger for my iPhone 4. The FlexSmart does that just fine, and the price of the item is about the same as an Apple car charger. (b)I wanted a iPhone holder for the car; it's OK for that. A little bit wobbly, but I feel safe mounting my device to it. Its gooseneck neck isn't too long, which probably adds to the stability, but it also makes it somewhat crowded around my car's dashboard controls (e.g., heater knobs). I can live with that. (c) I wanted an FM tuner base. I tried the only FM tuner presently suggested by Apple for iPhone 4, the Belkin, which contrary to what Apple states, did not work with my iPhone 4. The GoGroove tunes my iPhone 4 just fine.
A couple of minuses: (1) the materials the GoGroove are made from aren't top notch. It's worth the $40 I paid, but not much more than that. (2) I have to take my iPhone out of its bumper to properly seat with the GoGroove. The same was true with the Belkin tuner, so that's probably a problem with Apple's bumper.

(More customer reviews)The itrip mini does what it advertizes: fits the sleek lines of the mini ipod without adding much bulk at all, and transmits your tunes to a radio tuned to frequency (defaults to 87.9, but you can adjust that by installing the simple software provided with the itrip).
Living in LA, there are VERY limited options insofar as stations not in use. 87.9 is actually one of the few options. The sound quality was awful. I tried using this device in my car, in my room, in my home stereo - all with the same lousy results.
I should have listened to the advice of the salesperson at the Apple store and gotten the cassette device to play my ipod music on other sound systems.
Bottomline: it works, but sounds like music playing on a radio station that doesn't quite come in clearly - static. Poor volume, and very poor sound quality.

(More customer reviews)Received this product about a week ago, purchased solely for the remote feature for my ipod video, mainly for my car, but also for ipod docks in my home. Since I have a dock/charger in my car, the FM transmitter was not neccessary, although a nice adddition. The remote works well, no complaints there, however, the manual states that the FM transmitter can be turned off by cycling through the four preset tuners until you reach the "off" menu. This does not exist, which I confirmed through DLO support. This is not a huge issue, but I do receive minimal static, which is not the case with my ipod mini using the Griffin remote. Sadly, Griffin no longer makes a remote for ipod video, classic and nano. Overall, if you're looking specifically for the remote function and not the FM transmitter, this product is very good, so I do recommend it. Would love to here feedback from other users.

(More customer reviews)I bought this item primarily to play music off my iPhone 3G through my radio but the transmitter is extremely weak. I live and work in the Los Angeles/Orange County area so the frequencies are pretty jammed packed.
Pros:
- iPhone fits nice and snug
- Easy to set up and plug in
- I drive an older BMW and the location of where this cradle sits is perfect
- Navigation with remote is fast and easy
Cons:
- Weak transmitter, at best, I heard about 5 seconds of music/slight static before it went completely out of range and back again
- I can definitely see myself using this while traveling since I believe once I'm in the open, the frequencies will open up more, but definitely not for city use
- Static/transmitter doesn't improve in airplane mode either
I would definitely keep this if only the transmitter was stronger but alas, I will be returning this item and search for a new FM transmitter for my phone.

When I first plugged it into my cigarette lighter I immediately noticed radio interference, I tried tuning the device and my stereo to different frequencies and it didn't help much. However, the device works and I can hear the iPod of my iphone play on the radio but with a little buzzing sound in the background, if you turn the volume up enough you can't really hear it. The hands free also works good but sometimes people tell me that they can hear a small eco on their side of the call. I'm not entirely sure if it's the device that causes the interference or if it's just my car because I've plugged in other charging devices into the cigarette lighter and I always have the same interference problem. I don't want to recommend it because I'm not entirely happy with it, but who knows maybe you will have better luck in your car, so I don't want to say not to try it. I will continue to use it because the buzzing is really not that noticeable once I'm playing music.

I also didn't like how there was no instruction manual included.
Overall, it works well, and I have no problems with the FM transmitter, except for the fact that you have to keep setting up the radio station each time you start up your car.
The sound quality isn't too bad either, and sounds almost close, but not exactly to CD quality.

(More customer reviews)I like the design of this product very much, but it suffers from a fatal flaw. The transmitter is weak. This is in direct conflict with what other reviews say. Also, the unit only broadcasts from 88.1-107.9 -- other websites and the back of the packaging claim its capable of 87.6 to 107.9.
From this, I think I know why the transmitter is so weak. Apparently, this unit originally did not comply with FCC regulations and probably was a very strong transmitter that could do the full FM frequency. At some point, apparently very recently, the FCC probably forced Satechi to remedy this and now it can no longer do 87.6-88.0 and no longer broadcast a signal powerful enough to be received from more than 6 yards out as the FCC requires.
If you look at reviews on Amazon, you'll notice the FM transmitters made by companies you've never heard of all get the high 5 star reviews while the ones made by big name brands (like Monster and Belkin) get absolutely trashed in the reviews. This is because ANY FM transmitter that actually complies with FCC regulations is garbage in a large city with heavy airwave saturation. The cheap chinese ones rarely comply with these regulations cause they constantly change brand names, anyways. The bigger players usually do play the by the rules and their products suffer as a result.
In this case, I suspect Satechi has recently been forced to start playing by the rules based on the transmitter I received. The weak signal and newly restricted (at least it appears to be a new change) frequency range are dead giveaways of this.
Sadly, that makes the unit hard to recommend. It's not Satechi's fault, but this transmitter just sucks in terms of signal strength (which means static *all* the time and an inability to broadcast "over" another signal if you can't find an empty frequency). Great design, but unless you live out in the middle of nowhere you probably won't be able to hear your music without static.

(More customer reviews)I had been looking for a FM transmitter for my iTouch for about two weeks and very concerned about everything I had read about different ones. I am very pleased to say that this product exceeded my expectations. I have had no issues with this unit so far. It was a breeze to connect and the clamps that hold the unit allow for a silicone case to remain on the iTouch. There are also tabs on the bottom that the iTouch rests on that are adjustable to allow for all connections. The unit will move, but I expected this because it is on an adjustable mount and it bounces when you vehicle bounces (a good thing I think). Overall I would highly recommend this product for anyone looking for an inexpensive FM Transmitter that really does what it is supposed to. I have also not experienced any interference or beeping noises that I had read in other product reviews. (More customer reviews)When I first hooked this up to my iPod, it worked as expected...the first time. I used it for about 20 minutes. The second time, about 10 minutes into using it the FM transmitter seemed to stop transmitting. I made sure it was completely in the 12V outlet and all the connections were secure, and it was on the right FM frequency. Even without the iPod attached, there should be silence on the frequency on which it's transmitting, but it was just static. The charging part of it still works fine. The FM transmitter works off and on for apparently no reason. Even when it is transmitting, the cord that goes to the headphone jack is very spotty - you have to turn it around in the jack just right or you only get sound to one side of the car or there's a lot of static. My headphones work just fine, so it's not the jack on the iPod. When it's actually transmitting and everything is adjusted just right, it sounds great. I'd return it, but for $9 it's not even worth paying the return shipping. So, if you're looking for a charger, it works fine. If you're looking for an FM transmitter, I'd look elsewhere.
