(More customer reviews)This worked surprisingly well on our road trip to Vegas, and added bonus has a remote and charges your phone too! The only issue, when we were in bigger cities, we had issues finding a radio station that work well! But overall, very impressed with the performance.

Bluetooth Speaker - Black Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)There is a subtle, high-pitched whine (briefly noted in CNET review) when using bluetooth. It's noticeable enough that you can't stop hearing it and makes listening to music impossible. It sounds surprisingly good, however, when using the line-in (but you could buy something similar, and a lot cheaper, if you don't care about bluetooth). I have a new phone (Blackberry Pearl 8130) and pairing was no problem. I called Yamaha and they were not aware of the problem, although I did have the rep read the CNET review. He said he would talk to the tech guys and get back to me. That was two weeks ago.
I am returning the Yamaha and have just recieved a Parrot "Party"Parrot PARTY Bluetooth® Stereo 2.0 Portable Soundbox. Interestingly, the Parrot sounds very good using bluetooth, but not as good using line-in. I'm keeping the Parrot.

WOWee One Power Bass Portable Speaker (Black) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I've had the Wowee One for a little while now, and I've used it in every possible situation I can come up with. This is a great little product that gives some heavy duty sound.
I bought the Wowee One after seeing it reviewed on Engadget. I leave all my music/podcasts on my phone, and I'm constantly streaming music from Pandora, so I wanted something extremely portable that would give clear, audiophile quality sound. The Wowee One looked like the perfect solution.
First of all, let me say I couldn't be happier with my purchase. This is one of those products that you can't really appreciate until you see it in person. Every one of my friends has asked to borrow it just to try it out, and every one of them has ordered their own.
When I first opened the Wowee One and connected it to my Palm Pre with Pandora streaming, it sounded very muffled. I was really disappointed, until I realized I hadn't taken off the plastic cover (duh!). Once I took that off, the audio was booming. The first thing you'll want to do is try it out on different surfaces to see how it affects the sound. My glass table produced a clear balanced sound. Then I moved it to my hollow wooden cupboard, and the bass filled the room. I even put it on a large water cooler, and you could feel the vibrations.
Obviously, streaming audio isn't the ideal situation to test the device, so I put a Blu-Ray in my laptop and connected it to the Wowee One to test out something from a lossless audio source. Again, the clarity of sound was incomparable. It literally feels like there are layers upon layers of audio that were completely hidden when listening on my crappy laptop speakers. I've used it hundreds of times, and I still find myself lifting it in the air, and then placing it on different surfaces to hear how each affects the audio.
The packaging is simple - which makes you realize how portable this product is. All you need is the device, and a 3.5mm audio cable. It also comes with a USB cable for charging.
My one qualm with the Wowee One is the battery life. It's not bad by any means, but I found it lasted around 17 or 18 hours on a charge, not the advertised 20 hours. I'm not sure if that's because I was using it so heavily in such a small period of time, but I like knowing how long the batter will last me, and mine lasted around 18 hours. The good news is, all it needs is a standard USB input to charge from - no proprietary charger, so USB is generally easy to find no matter where you are.
The price seems high at $79.99, but so far I feel like I've gotten full value out of it. The sound quality is as good as (if not better than) a pair of $60 computer speakers with a woofer, and the portability alone makes it well worth the difference. If you're on the fence, I'd say pull the trigger - you won't regret the purchase. If you're able to demo one in person, I'm sure you'll be as sold as I was.

Sony D-NS505 S2 Sports ATRAC Walkman Portable CD Player Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Quick summary: if you are looking for something to work out with, this player is great. If you are looking for something for your car or commute, it is terrible.
I'm very unhappy with my purchase for purely practical reasons, but everything works and has nice sound quality, so I can't really complain and return the player. The various reviews praising battery life and sound quality as great are correct. I have not tried the MP3 functions of the player yet.
You can't really tell in the picture up there, but the player has a large handstrap over the top of the player. This handstrap, to the best of my inspection, cannot be removed - it houses the 'screen' and playback (random, repeat, MP3 folders) options. The handstrap essentially doubles the size of the CD player. It *is* very nice if you are walking along with the player, but will not fit comfortable in a purse or backpack pocket.
I also find CD loading awkward. The bottom of the player opens with a twist and the CD is held against the body of the discman.Again, excellent for jogging. Plays as well upside down as it does on its side or right-side up. However, this means that you cannot eject or load CDs with one hand (I like to change CDs without breaking pace when walking home). The twisting mechanism makes me nervous about it's lifetime and I'm not entirely comfortable jamming or unjamming my CDs into the player.
So, I basically should have bought a $30 player that would have fit in my purse, have a spring mechanism to open, and probably equal sound quality. If you want this for sports, go for it. Else, find another player.

Spin your commercial CDs, your homemade music CDs of almost any stripe with Sony's versatile, full-circle D-NS505 S2 Sports-styled Walkman portable CD player. Designed for rugged outdoor use, the player features active control playback operation so you can make changes to your program literally while you're on the run. Sony's "h.ear" clip-on headphones are designed for streamlined comfort.Skip-Free G-Protection technology boosts the laser pickup's shock protection to minimize read errors that would otherwise interrupt your music, providing quick recovery from both horizontal and vertical shocks. The D-NS505's water-resistant body and heat-resistant lid helps protect it against the elements, with rubber gaskets, bushings, and splash-resistant seals that help keep out water, moisture, and dirt.Playback options include 32-track programming, repeat (track, disc, or program), random play, and--thanks to Sony's great work in DSP efficiency--more than 75 hours of ATRAC3plus CD or more than 50 hours of audio CD playback from 2 AA batteries (not included). The D-NS505's 2-line dot-matrix display is built right into its handstrap, offering full ID3 tag recognition, and bookmark playback (which lets you program your favorite songs from multiple CDs and play them back at the touch of a button). CD Text support displays artist and title information with compatible commercial audio CDs.The player comes bundled with Sony's SonicStage CD Simple Burner software. Compatible with ID3 tagging and most CD burners, this application transfers songs from CDs or MP3 music files from your PC's hard drive and burns them to recordable CDs using ATRAC3plus compression.ATRAC3plus is a high-quality audio-compression technology that reduces the size of digital audio files while preserving much of a track's original sound quality (similar in concept to MP3 or Dolby Digital sound formats). With ATRAC3plus, music can be burned and compressed at 132, 105, 66, 64, or even 48 kbps (kilobits per second), letting you select the right balance between fidelity and storage space (you'll get around 490 songs per disc at 48 kbps).Digital Mega Bass Sound boosts your music's low end without high clarity and low distortion, and there's also a built-in equalizer with 3 preset curves and 1 customizable setting. Sony's automatic volume limiter system (AVLS) conserves batteries--and guards your hearing--by capping your listening level at either of two settings. You can hook the player up with your home system through an optional analog stereo "Y" interconnect. The player also works with an optional AC/DC 4.5V power adapter (AC-E45HG or -E45A).What's in the Box CD player, ear clip-on stereo headphones, CD-ROM (SonicStage software), a user's manual, and warranty information.

Sony MZ-DN430PSBLK Psyc MiniDisc Network Walkman (Black) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)The best thing about these players? The battery life! You'll get 45-55 hours on a single Alkaline battery-and this is TRUE battery life folks. Because this little guy operates on alkaline batteries, it will truly last up to 50 hours of usage, unlike Li-ion or regular rechargeable players (like the ipod, Zen, etc). Those devices advertise 12 to 20 hours, HOWEVER, if you don't use it for a week, the battery will be dead. Rechargeables have a horrible discharge rate, and regular flash or hd based mp3 players use those stupid "instant-on" features that make the problem worse, after "power off" they go into a power-trickling sleep mode. How stupid. I can't tell you how often I tried to listen to my fully charged ipod only to find that the battery drained itself because it sat for a week after I charged it, GRRR! That problem does not exist with these players, which makes a HUGE difference. If you listen to it for an hour one night, and pick it up 3 months later, you'll have 44 hours to go! Just excellent.
Also, be sure to download the new SonicStage software from Sony (v3.3). It no longer imposes transfer restrictions. That's right, you can transfer your MP3s, waves, wma's, etc until the cows come home. And when you want to delete the tracks from the player, just delete. No more of that "check-in, check-out" crap from the early days of SonicStage. Plus the interface has been much cleaned up and is actually a joy to use (wow, I can't believe I just said that about SonicStage).
MiniDiscs are cheap folks, You can get them for about a buck-fifty a piece.
Be aware that this thing only plays ATRAC3 encoded files, which means that when you transfer songs to it, it will automatically transcode everything to ATRAC3 (regardless of your source: CD, WAV, MP3, WMA, etc-but luckily it DOES support just about every popular music format). You will get to choose the quality of the transcode/transfer (132kbps LP2 or 64kbps LP4). On average, I fit about 3 albums using LP2 mode. Sometimes I'll have to prioritize which albums I want LP2, then make the 3rd album LP4. LP2 sounds as good or better as a 128kpbs MP3.
Any bummers? Sure, there is one: The player's only power source is the alkaline battery. It does not get power from the USB port (if it did, this thing would be flawless IMHO). Unlike normal playback, recording uses mucho amperage from the battery. I recommend that for recording you stick a NiMH rechargeable in it. This will negate the problem. If you don't do that, expect to toss out your Duracell after 2 or 3 discs worth of recordings (I'm serious). Save your precious disposable Alkalines for the sweet 50 hours or so of playback.
I wrote a review more than a year ago and gave it 4 stars then, however today, a year later, I'm giving it 5. That's gotta mean something...
As little as you're likely to spend on one of these original MD (not Hi-MD), I doubt you'll be disappointed, just don't forget to download the latest sonic stage (don't even bother with the disc that comes with it, the v3.3 download will be all you need).
Later dudes-
RMaldonado

(More customer reviews)The adapter and earphones worked great for a while but the adapter soon began to come apart. with a lot of care the adapter kept working, at least longer than the headset. It also soon after i got them one side stopped working. But then again all the headsets of this kind I have bought for my cell phone has stopped working from one side. This has actually been the longest that the headset has worked.

Belkin Armband Case for iPod nano 1G, 2G (Black) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)This case fits the nano perfectly and has openings for all the ports and switches. It's easy to slip on and adds very little bulk. The silicon is quite smooth and not as tacky as others. It's easy to slip into a pocket yet still resists sliding on a smooth surface.
It isn't mentioned in the ad but it does come with a screen protector. It's tucked away in the packaging and would be easy to discard, as I almost did. It too is very good quality, it was easy to install and lays flat without any bubbles. I put it on crooked initially, but it was easy to remove and put it on correctly. There aren't any real instructions but it has tabs that are clearly labeled and they should keep it from being installed inside out.
Bottom line: The quality and design of this case complements the quality and design of the Nano very well.
